Thelma Ardene
Schildhouse
Apr 7, 1933 — May 20, 2024
Thelma Ardene Schildhouse, age 91, our beloved mother, passed away on May 20, 2024. We rejoice that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Thelma struggled for the last several years with Parkinson's Disease. Mom was a dedicated wife and mother who loved being a homemaker above all. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano for pleasure. When her kids grew older she worked for many years at Mitchell's Young at Heart Fashions in Alger Heights. Mom also enjoyed singing in her church choir, participating in Bible studies, and getting together with her "Club," a special group of high school friends who enjoyed many antics together.
Thelma was born in 1933 to John M. and Tena (Brondyke) Knoll in Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years John Henry Schildhouse, and also by her brother Arnold Knoll, sister Sarah Dick, sisters-in-law Barbara Leopold and Susan Schildhouse, brother-in-law Bob Leopold. She is survived by her children Linda (Jim) Rossell, Dan (Arlene) Schildhouse, Kristie Schildhouse, and David Schildhouse (Pam Klinkner); grandchildren Amanda (Doug) Bellgardt, Adam (Jessica) Rossell, Aaron (Amanda) Rossell, Trisha (Ben) Taylor, Paul Schildhouse, Audra Schildhouse, and Ethan Schildhouse; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in-law David Schildhouse and sister-in-law Peg Knoll.
Many thanks to the kind care workers of Samaritas and Gentiva Hospice, who attended to mom over the last few years.
