Susan Lovell Dobre, age 60, of East Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, Susan remained a testament to both grit and grace until the very end. While her presence will be profoundly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace.

Affectionately known to her close friends and family as "Sooz," Susan was a woman of quiet elegance and immense kindness. Her family was of utmost importance to her. She loved walking with Gary and their dog, Nelli, spending family time on the shores of Lake Michigan, and going on adventures with her sisters. Susan enjoyed tending to her gardens, needlepointing, and appreciating the beauty of God's creations.

She spent 17 years passionately shaping young lives as a teacher at Mayflower Preschool, where her warmth and patience left a lasting mark on the community.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Gary; her children, Tad (Gaby) Dobre and Lilly Dobre (Jack Del Vecchio); and her parents, Jerry and Martha Lovell. She also leaves behind her sisters and their husbands, Sarah (Bryan) Koets and Elizabeth (Tim) English; her in-laws, Debbie (Michael) Ernst; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Susan's wishes, a private family gathering will be held this summer to celebrate and remember her life.
