Stephanie Jeanne
Dinkel
Mar 12, 1968 — Jan 18, 2023
Stephanie Jeanne Dinkel, our beloved sister, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the age of 54 in Kentwood, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Elizabeth; sisters Mary and baby Betsy; brother-in-law Mark Johnson; and nephew Jared Dinkel. Stephanie is survived by her siblings, Larry (Ruth Anne), Cathy (Bruce) Newell, Paul, Joe (Deb), Chris (Kim), John (Robin), Jennifer (Tim) Brom; and many nieces and nephews. Stephanie was the ninth of ten children, was full of energy as a toddler and young girl, and resisted naps (according to her mother, who said she would simply stand in her crib, smiling). She worked 25+ years as a nail technician at Panopoulos/Regis Salons, a job she loved, where she was surrounded by people and clients, many of whom became friends. She also worked as an in-home care provider/assistant, and most recently at Whole Foods. Steph loved the sunshine, and would count the days until spring arrived, when she would go out and pick lilacs and proudly display them. She especially enjoyed sitting on the dock at the family cottage on Gun Lake, and in recent years, bringing her beloved dog, Sheeva along. She was a fun, wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and found much amusement and pride in watching them grow into adults. She loved talking to people and was an attentive and empathetic listener. You could tell her anything; she was a trusted confidante. She cared deeply for those around her and would help whenever she could. Steph will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and co-workers. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 23, 3:00 pm at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel with Msgr. Ernest P. Schneider officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:30 – 3:00 pm, prior to the service. A livestream of the service will be available by visiting Stephanie's obituary page at www.zaagman.com and clicking on the webcast link.
