Sophie Mae Krommendyk (Looyenga), age 91, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born on January 27, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI. Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Williard "Bill" Krommendyk, who passed in 2017; her parents; and her daughter, Barb Jackson, who passed in 2019. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Dan and Sue Krommendyk, Ron and Nancy Krommendyk, Cheri and Ken Koning, son-in-law Mike Jackson, daughter-in-law Beth Pavlak, Jeff and Leslie Krommendyk; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Sophie will also be remembered by her extended family, including her brothers -in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Sophie's life was marked with deep devotion to her family her steadfast faith in Jesus and a gentle spirit that blessed all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Our mother fought the good fight and finished the race. Come and celebrate the crown of righteousness she has received by attending a celebration of life on Monday Jan 12, 2026, at 11 am with lunch served immediately after the service at Raybrook Manor chapel in the Friendship Room. Visitation will begin at 10 am, one hour prior to the service. Sophie's family would also like to thank the staff at Raybrook nursing unit for the tender loving care she received for the past 5 years. Private interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where Sophie will be laid to rest beside her husband.
