Obituary

Shirley Louise Arndt of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Celeryville, Ohio went to be with her faithful savior on December 11, 2022. Shirley was born April 19, 1928 and was the daughter of Arthur and Vivian Krueger. When single, Shirley enjoyed a short career as a stewardess for American Airlines. This suited Shirley well as she enjoyed meeting people and making conversation. After marrying Max Arndt, she enjoyed family life and raising children Heidi and Scott. Max's job transfer with MTD brought her to Celeryville, Ohio where she spent most of her life. Shirley was a faithful member of Willard Christian Reformed church, a wonderful community that surrounded her with love for forty years after being widowed at age 47. Life never got her down. She went back to school to become an LPN at the age of 50 and later worked for Wiers Farm. Shirley left this world a better place than she found it. She was a good listener, loved flowers and animals. She is survived by her two children: Heidi and Bob Veenema and Scott and Marie Arndt; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Grant and Kay Krueger; stepsons, Ron and Trisha Arndt, Dennis and Kathy Arndt. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Arndt. In honor of Shirley there will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 12 noon in the Holland Home Breton Terrace Centerpeace Chapel which is located at 2500 Breton Woods Dr SE Kentwood, MI 49512, with Rev. Kelly Buist. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Celeryville Christian School, 4200 Broadway Road, Willard OH 44890.
