Sharon Lee
Cavanaugh
Sep 21, 1940 — Sep 2, 2025
Sharon Lee Cavanaugh, age 84, passed away on September 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Sharon was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Donald, and daughter, Joy Slachter. She will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her children: Kevin (Sidney) Cavanaugh, Amy (Jill) Murphy, Patrick (Betsy) Cavanaugh, Amanda (Dennis) Gracey, Bridget (Brian) Flint, Ryan (Angie) Cavanaugh, Ethan Cavanaugh, Beth (Francisco) Gonzalez, and Adam Cavanaugh; as well as her "special sons," Garth (Lynn) Anderson and Troy (Kristyn) Smith.
Sharon was a beloved grandmother to 19 grandchildren—Lauren, Collin, Tara, Austin, Logan, Nicholas, Dalton, Brady, Jack, Luke, Liam, Andie, Isabela, Leila, Rocco, Gabriel, Amelia, Elliott, and Sebastian—and great-grandmother to Elia, Emily, Sloan, and Violet.
The eldest child of Edwin and Geraldine Koprowski, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Burmistrzak. She is survived by her siblings Brian Koprowski, Eileen Koprowski, John (Michelle) Koprowski, and Anita (Mark) Miller.
Sharon was most proud of being the matriarch of the Cavanaugh family and serving as the lunch lady at Mulick Park Elementary School. Sharon enjoyed sharing meals, smiles, and love with hundreds of children through the years. She was also known as the original "10,000 stepper" long before fitness apps, walking the southeast side of Grand Rapids with her trademark friendly smile and wave. Sharon will be remembered for her selflessness and devotion to both her family and community.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Georgetown and Cambridge Manor of Grandville for the care, compassion, and love they showed Sharon in recent years.
