Sally Ann (Yates) Waalkes, age 95, of Grand Rapids, MI, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She was surrounded by an outpouring of love and peace from family during her final days, echoing the love she gave and received every day of her life. Sally was preceded in death by her husband Warren of 72 years. Sally is survived by her children, Diane (Clyde) Richardson and Karen (Larry) McMullin; grandchildren, Sara McMullin and David (Katy) McMullin; great-granddaughter, Adaline McMullin; brother, Robert (Carol) Wright and brother-in-law Robert (Ruth) Waalkes; and many nieces and nephews.

Sally graduated from Union High School in 1947. She was a member of Fifth Reformed Church of Grand Rapids, MI, where she served faithfully for over 75 years and sang in the choir for 25 years. Sally enjoyed traveling with Warren and their friends, spending winter vacations in Florida, and summer days at Swan Lake.

During their retirement, Sally and Warren shared their love of literacy by acting as reading mentors at Mulick Park Elemenary School and Sherwood Park Elementary School.

Her life was centered around her faith, her family, and her friendships- all of which she valued deeply.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the care she received at Holland Home and Faith Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs St. SE 49506 with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 am.
