Ruth Louise (DeVries) Holkeboer, age 84, of Grand Rapids, was

called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2026.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James R.

Holkeboer; her beloved children, John (Jill) Holkeboer and Mary

(Curt) DeDoes; and her cherished grandchildren: Noah (Elspeth),

Lauren Holkeboer, Jacob (Katie), Andrew (Rebecca), and Isabella

DeDoes; Great-Grandchildren, Sara DeDoes and Baby DeDoes due in January. Also surviving are

several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her

parents, Dr. Daniel and Sarah (Westra) DeVries, and her brother and sister-

in-law, Dr. Daniel A. and Marian (Cooper) DeVries.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ruth's life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with Pastor Thea Leunk officiating. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. A light luncheon will follow after the service.
