Mr. Roger J. Ganzevoort was taken up to glory to be with His Savior Jesus Christ on Friday evening, January 13, 2023. Roger was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 24, 1930, to Henry and Elizabeth Ganzevoort. He then went on to marry the love of his life, Joanne VanderWoude in the year 1955. Roger's heart was for his family and his faith. In his younger years, he was a noted football player at Union High School and remained a sports enthusiast his entire life. Roger considered it a privilege to faithfully provide for his family, and his strong work ethic was an inspiration to many. In his later years of retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Seventh Reformed Church where he was a faithful member, as well as participating in many of the trips with the church's senior group. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister, and his grandson, Aaron Moeller. He will be remembered by his loving family, including his wife, Joanne, their 4 children Ken and Cheryl Ganzevoort, Ellen and Robert Moeller, Thomas and Carol Ganzevoort, and Brian (fiancé Cindy) Ganzevoort, his sister-in-law Marian Ganzevoort, his brother-in-law, Hugh VanderWoude, his grandchildren, Rev. James and Claire Ganzevoort, Lynda and Jason Ambrose, Jennifer Moeller, Christina and Beau York, Jessica and Anthony Baar, Luke Ganzevoort, Jacob Harvey, Lauren Ganzevoort, Ella Ganzevoort, and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Holland Home Raybrook Manor with Rev. James Ganzevoort and Rev. Paul vanEngelenhoven officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Light refreshments will be served following the service. A graveside service will take place at Woodlawn cemetery following the reception.
