Obituary

Our dad, Roger De Wys, aged 78, entered heaven on April 20, 2023. There he was reunited with his mother and father, William Peter and Kathryn De Wys. Multiple health issues led to his hospitalization. A week later he was unable to recover, and his three daughters were honored to be with him as they encouraged Rog to leave his tired, sickly body and enjoy the new one promised to him. His daughters were able to witness their dad taking his last breath here and his next breath seeing his Savior face to face. He loved the song," I can only imagine" and we knew that he wasn't having to imagine anymore. It was both difficult and beautiful, a holy moment to be cherished.

Roger saw the beauty in his father's creation and shared this love with his children and grandchildren. He often reflected on God's glory through all of nature. Rog knew he was a sinner, saved by a gracious, loving and forgiving God and was beyond thankful for this.

Roger's family included his three daughters and their families: Tammie and Rick Otte and their children, Mitch and Brie (Wolfis) Otte, Taelynn Otte and Justin Crow, Jessalynn Otte and her son Jayden, Dylynn Otte, and Irvin "Bear" Burt, Laura and Drew Corell and their children, Zachary and Lauren (VanVugt) Corell, Caleb Corell, and Kylie Corell. Amy and David Porter and their children, Jaeda, Jett and Jace. Rog has three brothers and their families, Don and Phyllis De Wys, Pete and Mary De Wys, and Fred and Mary De Wys.

Roger's immediate family and his brothers will gather for a private celebration on a later and warmer date at his home on the lake enjoying some sunshine as he would have loved. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Imani (which translates to "faith") Ministries. A non- profit organization started by his granddaughter Jessalynn Faith. This ministry provides funding and support to make it possible for kids to get an education in Jinja, Uganda. Checks can be made out to Imani Ministries and sent to Jessa Otte, 1716 Johnston SE, GR.
