Obituary

Robert Moon Christenson passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 24, 2022, and is now rejoicing in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ. Rob was born December 4, 1928, in Rockford, Illinois, one of six children born to Alfred W. and Marguerite (Moon) Christenson. Rob was raised in a family with strong faith in Christ, and close ties to each other. Those two characteristics defined Rob's life-he trusted God and he exhibited an intense love for each member of his family. Rob attended Alma College (Michigan) where he met Beulah Anderson. The two were married on December 10, 1950, just before Rob's Air Force deployment to Germany. Beulah soon joined him, and their first child, Robert Bruce, was born to them there. After discharge from the Air Force, the two returned to the Detroit area where Rob began a 35-year career with Reynolds Metals Company. Rob and Beulah were very active at Grace Baptist Church, where Rob served in many roles. Rob and Beulah moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1984. Beulah passed away in 1992. Rob continued to live in Knoxville for several years before re-locating to Grand Rapids. He attended Wealthy Street Baptist Church, where he met Marjory Miller. The two were married on October 1, 2004. Rob's family and friends remember him as a loving and caring man who readily sacrificed for others. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah, his parents, his brother Alfred W., and two of his sisters--Karen Gignac and Margaret Ottoson. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Marjory, his children Robert B. Christenson, Jennifer (Greg) Wheatley, Jill (Tom) Miller, his stepchildren Kathy (Kurt) Vanderweide, and David (Tina) Miller, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Victor Christenson, and sister Sally (Dean) Glasco, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton Street SE in Grand Rapids, with visitation at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Emmanuel Hospice, 401 Hall Street SW, Suite 263, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49503.
