Richard D. Osborn died at home Monday, April 11th from complications related to metastatic cancer. Richard, or Rick as he preferred to be called, was born and raised in Grand Rapids, and only lived away for a short time in Hawaii as a young man. Rick had a long career as a real estate broker and appraiser for over 40 years in Western Michigan. He made numerous friends during his career and maintained close friendships for over 50 years with his college roommates at U. of Michigan. Rick enjoyed time at Lake Michigan where he often wrote stories and poems, and loved to walk Rosy Mound. He loved all types of music and recently gifted his original vinyl of Pink Floyd to a new friend. Rick was a voracious reader, especially of Greek mythology. He met the love of his life, Susan, when he read a book she had written about Greek mythology. Rick will be greatly missed by his many friends and by his wife, Susan, his sister, Lynn Houseman, and eight nieces and nephews who saw him as their cool uncle Rick. Rick had a warm and friendly wit, a vast intelligence, was a creative writer, and had a most generous heart. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
