Phyllis Velting, 89, went home to be with her Lord on January 8, 2023, after an extended illness. She is survived and will be dearly missed, by her children, Sherry De'Amario, Scott (Donna), Vicki (Wayne) Bickel, Kim (Barb), Kirk (Frances), Kevin (Luanne); 15 grandchildren & 20 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dave (Joan) Velting and sister-in-laws, Pearl (Jack) Hoffius & Gloria Velting as well as many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim, and both her sister and brother. Phyllis was passionate about her Lord, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and gardening. All of them were her pride and joy! She brought fun and laughter to most gatherings, was one who was willing to help others, and gave world-class hugs. She will be missed by all who knew her. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked donations to be made to Grace Adventures, 2100 N. Ridge Rd, Mears MI 49436. There will be a visitation Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49546. On Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m., there will be a visitation at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Following the service, guests are invited to join the family for a social time at the church for coffee and desserts.
