Patricia, affectionately known as Pat to her friends, was a proud graduate of Central High School in Grand Rapids. Her education laid the foundation for a life characterized by thoughtful decisions and a nurturing spirit that she would later pass on to her children and grandchildren. Upon her passing, Patricia was reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, Peter Koetsier Jr., her cherished parents, and her adored granddaughter, Brittany Koetsier. Her legacy continues through her devoted children, Kurt Koetsier (Jeffrey Pomeroy), Peter (Phyllis) Koetsier III, Kristine (Thomas) Kilgore, and Steven (Stacey) Koetsier. She was a pillar of strength and guidance for her grandchildren, Sam, Alyssa, Kathryn (Matt) Darrow, Brianna (Matt) Witte, Jason (Zoe) Kilgore, Zachary Koetsier, Cassie Parker, Robert Parker, and Madison Koetsier. Her great-grandchildren, Alexander Witte, Rosalie Witte, Gerrit Witte, Wrenley Kilgore, Serenity Koetsier, and Levi Parker, knew her as "GG P," a name that encapsulated her warmth and the special place she held in their hearts.
Patricia's life was marked by her passion for travel, an interest that took her to many beautiful places and instilled in her family a sense of adventure and appreciation for the world's diversity. Yet, no matter where she roamed, her heart remained firmly anchored in the love for her grandkids and great grandkids. Patricia's role as a mother was evident in the strength and achievements of her children, a reflection of her unwavering support and the values she instilled in them.
Those who knew Patricia would describe her as loving, thoughtful, and wise. Her advice was sought after, her hugs could heal, and her presence was a source of comfort. She had a unique ability to listen deeply and provide guidance that was both practical and heartfelt. Her wisdom will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to have felt its gentle touch.
As we bid farewell to Patricia Ann Koetsier (Barendse), we celebrate a faithful servant of God and cherish the memories she leaves behind.
