Patricia
Devries
Sep 17, 1930 — Apr 11, 2026
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Patricia (Pat) De Vries entered into her eternal rest at the age of 95. Peitje was born September 17, 1930 to Samuel & Agatha Reitsma in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Peitje did not care for the nicknames she was called at school and changed her name to Patsy and later to Patricia when she moved to Grand Rapids. With cherished memories, Pat leaves behind her children, Dan & Carol Monsma & Carol De Vries, grandchildren & greats: Justin & Kimberly Kiel (Jayden, Kinsley, & Raylee), Matthew & Heidi De Vries (Clayton, Josiah, & Adaline), Justin & Natalie Hiemstra (Isla, Olive, & Hudson), Dr. Elliot & Andrea Ensink (Russell & Arlo) Caleb & Jamie Marcus, Lydia Monsma, Joseph & Sara Monsma (Theodore) Brent & Madelyn Newhof and expected babies Hiemstra and De Vries, her dear brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law of Randolph, Wisconsin: Hilda De Vries, Frank & Marie De Vries, Hank & Barb De Vries, and Morry & Arlene De Vries, her many nieces and nephews and special friends, Florence Corson & Lory Ten Broek. Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry (2000) and son, Dave (2020); Pat's siblings and in-laws, Audrey Reitsma, Tom & Theresa Reitsma, Jim & Fran Koning, John & Nettie De Vries, Martin & Emma De Vries, Don De Vries, Jim & Shirley De Vries, and Ted & Sue De Vries. She also had two loving church families at Southeast Protestant Reformed Church (1955-2018) and First Protestant Reformed Church (2018-2026). The family would like to thank the caring staff of Boulder Creek Assisted Living for their wonderful care while she was a resident. It was always evident that the Lord's everlasting arms were present in Pat's life and at the end he gathered her gently unto himself. "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms..." Deuteronomy 33:27. Visitation will be held at Zaagman Memorial Chapel from 5 pm – 8 pm Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Funeral services will be held at First Protestant Reformed Church at 11:00am Wednesday with Rev. Joseph Holstege officiating. Interment will be at Fairplains Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to Eastside Christian School Foundation, 2792 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506. The service will be live streamed at firstprc.org.
