Nankal Toma Darshak, age 45, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on November 12, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Nankal was born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where she received her early education and earned an associate degree in education (NCE). She was married to Darshak Toma, and they shared 20 years of love, faith, and ministry. She served alongside her husband in the ministry of the word with the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (HEKAN). In 2015, she moved to the United States to be with Darshak, who is furthering his education. While in the US, Nankal was able to pursue her own educational journey with great passion. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kuyper College and a certificate in counseling from Calvin Seminary. She was actively working toward a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership at the time of her demise.

Nankal will always be remembered by her love for Christ and for people. Her life radiated kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, share what she had, and encourage others in their work with God.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Darshak Joseph Toma; their three children: Nenfot Toma Darshak (daughter), Nenrit Toma Darshak (daughter), and Darshak Toma Darshak (son); her parents: Lucas Joseph Garba (father) and Saratu Lucas (mother); her siblings: Nandi Lucas (brother), Solomon Lucas (brother), Grace Yurka (sister), Helen David (sister), Nanpan Lucas (brother); her mother-in-law, Hajaratu Toma; and a large, loving extended family of cousins, in-laws, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the Calvin University Chapel. Visitation will take place in the Chapel Narthex from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the same day.
