Mildred "Mickey"
Dykhouse
Mar 19, 1929 — Aug 22, 2025
Dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Mildred (Mickey) Dykhouse passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on August 22, 2025. After growing up in Morley, MI, she moved to Grand Rapids as a teenager where she later met her husband John and they raised two children. Mickey's life was one of service – she always had room in her heart and home for those who needed a place and had a listening ear to all. She loved to bake, to clean, cheer on her children at sporting events and would rarely miss an activity that her grandchildren were involved in. She drove her friends to church and Bible study into her 90s. As big of a heart as she had for her family and friends, her love for the Lord was even bigger with a faith evident to all around her. She has left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to call her Mom, Grandma, Grandma Great, and Aunt Mickey.
Mickey is preceded by her beloved husband John, her dear sister Helen Nyenhuis and her brothers Arnold, Howard, Bob, and Bill Veersma.
She is survived by her children Tammy and Kevin DeWeerd and John and Sharon Dykhouse; her grandchildren Heather and John Quist, Stephanie and Steven Brink, Kailyn and Justin Speaks, Jessica and Jake Hoogstrate, Courtney and Devin Meeuwsen, Taylor Dykhouse, and Chase Dykhouse, along with her great grandchildren Nolan, Levi, and Jessalyn Quist, Eli, Cole, and Trey Brink, Charlie and Miller Speaks, Jude, Nora, and Cade Hoogstrate. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 6PM – 8PM at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11AM, with a visitation at 10AM at Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that donations be made to Faith Hospice.
