Merlin H. Vis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Loved father and grandfather passed away on June 3rd. Devoted to Christ, Merlin completed a near century of his earthly journey and went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully. Merlin was preceeded in death by his wife Johanna Van Baak-Vis and his second wife Margaret Sweetman-Vis. Surviving are his children, Marijo (Rollan) Van Egmond, and David (Kimberly) Vis; grandchildren, Shawn (Julie) Van Egmond, Mark (Erin) Van Egmond, Joy (Jon) Young, Kieri Vis, Colin (Katie)Vis; and 6 great grandchildren. Merlin was a dedicated member of the Neland Ave CRC church for 75 plus years; Merlin was a veteran of WW II. The family will receive friends and relatives at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. The funeral and committal will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial is immediate family only. Memorials may be made to Neland Ave CRC in Grand Rapids, or Crossroads Bible Study in Grand Rapids or Edison Christian Rest Home in Grand Rapids.
