Maxine Dykstra, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, after a long illness with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend John M. Dykstra, her extended family - Floyd and Ann Dornbush, Wayne and Ruth Dornbush, Howard and Marian Goris, Gordon and Jorean VanPortFleet, John and Ruth Kwant, Ade and Betty VanderGriend.
She is survived by her three children: Douglas Dykstra (Patti), Barbara Post (Michael), and Patricia Loeffler (Mark); her 8 grandchildren: Benjamin Dykstra, Rebecca Dykstra, Matthew Post (Lindsey), Laura Meeusen (Chris), Daniel Post (Tina), Rachel Cudney (Chris), Jacqueline Wright (Rob), and Michael Thompson (Anita), and her 15 great grandchildren. She even has a great granddaughter named after her - Maxine Thompson and another great granddaughter named Charlotte Maxine Cudney. She was special to all her grandchildren!
Maxine was a true lady, creative, and a great cook. She loved playing bridge and golf. She was a great friend and loved to have people in her home. She was a delight to be around, always kind and gracious, having a way of making everyone feel loved. She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren - all of them brought her joy. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, loved her church family, and singing of the old hymns. She will be remembered for the colorful sandals that she loved to wear. In her last years she battled dementia but she never lost her beautiful smile and her favorite words were "wonderful" and "beautiful". She was always kind and welcoming. Her family will cherish so many wonderful memories of gatherings at Christmas, Easter, and vacations. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
In her last days she was cared for exceptionally well by the staff at Walnut Ridge Care Center, the staff of CorsoCare hospice and their Chaplain Than Johnson.
