Obituary

On October 15, 2022, after a brave battle with kidney disease, with her daughters by her side, our "adorable" mother, grandmother (Amma), and great grandmother, Mary Beth (Weeber) Kleinheksel, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Mary was reunited with her husband of 58 years, Robert Kleinheksel, her parents Jack and Maude Weeber, her sister and brother-in-law Norma and Ted Rhoda, nephew Michael Rhoda, her brother Ken Weeber and sister-in-law Maryanne Weeber, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karen and Jack Kamstra, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken and Mickie Kleinheksel.

Mary graduated from The Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and began her career as a pediatric nurse, followed by a 24 year career at the Grand Rapids Community Blood Center. During her retirement she continued to use her nursing skills caring for friends and family needing medical care. Mary also enjoyed traveling with Bob, participating in her beloved FLOCK class, and volunteering in the Go-Getters program at Calvary Church. But, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren brought her endless joy.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her desire to use her God-given gifts to show His love to others. Her grandchildren will never forget her funny expressions that made them laugh, Dollar Store trips for treats, and sleepovers at her house complete with the best grilled (Velveeta) cheese sandwiches and her famous french toast. Even as they grew and went to college, Amma always checked in on them via hilarious emails and cards, often filled with much appreciated "pencil" money.

Mary is survived by her children Kathy (Martin) Grasmeyer, Lori (Timothy) Schultze, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Wiersma; her grandchildren, Ryan (Rebecca) Grasmeyer, Brandon (Samantha) Grasmeyer, Lauren (Jon) Panner, Spencer (Kristen) Schultze, Graham (Tara) Schultze, Allanna (Ben) Kurakazusampson, Elise (Tanner) Remy, Abigail (Cody) Powers, Sylvia Wiersma; and great grandchildren Grant, Claire, Grace, Aria, Liam, Nina, Robert, Lee, Clark, and Otto. She is also survived by many dear friends, nieces, nephews, her "fourth daughter" Mary Jo (Rhoda) Schierbeek, and devoted friend Jeanne Rienstra.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on October 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Beckwith Hills Christian Reformed Church, 2100 Chelsea Rd. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Pastor Josh Mateer will be officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to the memorial service. Private interment at Fairplains Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to The Inner-City Church Planting Mission or Two Fish Foundation. The family wishes to thank Davita Dialysis Center - East for their compassionate care for our mother for the last 2.5 years and Faith Hospice for their expert care of our mother in her final days.
