It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ellen Kullgren, age 89, announce her peaceful passing on September 28, 2022, in Grand Rapids, MI.

Mary Ellen was born in Detroit, MI on January 31, 1933, to William T. and Marion Huff. She is survived by her children Katherine Eaton (John) and Donald Kullgren (Dorothy) and her beloved grandchildren Colin Eaton and Heather Kullgren (Simeon Bishop).

Mary Ellen married Donald Kullgren, the love of her life, on September 17, 1955. Before settling in Grand Rapids, they lived in Livonia, Kalamazoo, Brighton, and Laguna Beach.

Mary Ellen was a kind soul, always generous, with a quick wit and ready smile. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, entertaining friends and playing cards. She enjoyed making and baking special dishes and hosting family gatherings.

Mary Ellen was an excellent golfer (with a hole in one to her credit) and painter, with many of her works displayed proudly in the homes of her family and friends. She loved to travel with her husband Don and was especially fond of her trip to Scotland visiting family and sharing in her Scottish heritage (Clan MacLeod of Lewis).

Our Grammy will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts, leaving a legacy of love.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the skilled nursing staff of Clark at Franklin in Grand Rapids for the truly compassionate care they provided to Mary Ellen.
