Mary Catherine
Brady
Oct 27, 1954 — Sep 17, 2025
We are heartbroken to share that Mary Catherine Brady (Vaughan) age 70 of Grand Rapids, MI passed away on September 17th, 2025 at home.
Mary is survived and missed by her loving husband Scott of 50 years; her children Sarah Gott, Molly (Mike) Cotter, Jessica Renusson, and Jeff (Karie) Brady. Forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren Ben and Molly Gott; Lucy, Anna, and Ryan Cotter; London, Jude and Lux Renusson; and Scott Brady; her siblings and their families; Janet and Joe Langerak, Daniel & Eileen Vaughan, Stephen Vaughan, Renee & Scott Dwyer, Ann & Jim Markle and dozens of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Carol Vaughan, and her in-laws, Ronald and Marge Brady.
Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Grand Rapids, MI as a child. She attended Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and received an associate's degree from Grand Rapids Community College. She lived a life of service, caring for the children of friends and neighbors, serving lunches to students at local schools, and dedicating many years to the Great Lakes Scrip Center.
Mary was a faithful servant of the Lord - always ready to jump in and lend a hand. Her volunteer work both at St. Francis Xavier and St. Paul the Apostle Schools and Parishes spanned over 50 years and ranged from planning road rallies and festivals, serving on parish and school committees, washing altar cloths, coordinating the Thanksgiving food drive, serving with the funeral ministry and one of her biggest joys, serving hot lunch to the elementary school kids with the "Nonnas".
Mary was happiest when surrounded by her kids and grandkids, and while playing tennis, golf, or pickleball with friends. Mary knew how to throw a great party, loved a table filled with food, love and laughter, and she always made room for one more - there were no strangers in her home. Mary enjoyed traveling with family and friends and the cottage was an open invitation to all. From cousins' weekends to Grandma Camp, her family has been truly blessed by her relentless enthusiasm for forced family fun.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Daniel J. Donnelly Education Foundation at St. Paul the Apostle School.
