Obituary

Marva Carol Tuuk, born on November 12, 1920, was called home to the church triumphant on May 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Jen Tuuk, by her husband of sixty-five years, Gordon Lamberts, her brother Al Tuuk, sister-in-law Hylda Tuuk, sister Kathleen Sharda, brother David Tuuk, sister-in-law Liz Tuuk. As a devoted wife and mother, Grammie and Great Grammie, she will lovingly be missed by her children Carol (John) VerMeulen, Dr. Robert (Nancy) Lamberts, Dr. David (Pat) Lamberts; her grandchildren John Dirk VerMeulen Jr., Margaret (Michael) Cole, Dr. Christian (Kara) VerMeulen, Elizabeth Lamberts Dietz, Emily (Curtis) King, Anna Lamberts, Nathan (Samantha) Lamberts, Nick (Megan) Lamberts, Mary (Brad) Silverman; her beloved great grandchildren Kate, John Dirk III, Nathan, Gordon, Abigail, Emma, Anna, Alexandra, Anneka, Charlotte, Lily, Jack, Charlie, Cecelia, Esme, Luke, Benjamin and Isaac. Marva was an alumna of Calvin University and Western State Teachers College. She gave thanks for parents that taught her God's will and God's word through memorizing scriptures as a child. She led a lifetime of devotion, prayer, and study. Her lifetime love of learning and continual search for wisdom in the scriptures was evident in her witness to others of her abiding faith in Jesus Christ. This faith led her to declare with confidence, "I know WHO and WHOSE I am." Her heart for the gospel led her to a lifetime of Christian service. Throughout her very long life she testified to the faithfulness of God. Those whose lives she touched will remember her faith, grace and love. Our thanks to Faith Hospice and the Raybrook Third Floor nursing staff for their loving end-of-life care. A private graveside interment service will be held for immediate family with a memorial service to follow later. Memorials may be made to Safe Haven Ministries (2677 Birchcrest Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, 49506), or to Words of Hope (700 Ball Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, 49503).
