Marcelyn Ruth Streekstra (née Roskamp), age 98, joined the Heavenly choir on February 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Marcelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry (2016), parents Claude and Tena Roskamp, brother Bud Roskamp, and son-in-law Stu Wesseling. Marcelyn is survived by her brother Roger (Carol) Roskamp; her children Larry (Cindy) Streekstra, Ruth Wesseling, Thomas Streekstra, Ronald (Sue) Streekstra; her grandchildren, Matthew (Bessie) Streekstra, Mark (Ana) Streekstra, Keri (Marty) Huizenga, Heidi Zylstra, Kelly Streekstra, Michele Streekstra; and her eleven great-grandchildren.

Marcelyn was born on October 28, 1925 and raised in Grand Rapids, MI as the oldest of three children born to Claude and Tena Roskamp. She was a longtime member of both Neland Ave. CRC and Ada CRC. Marcelyn loved music and was a gifted vocalist. She was also an avid golfer and was proud of her two hole-in-ones (over water) that her whole family is still envious of. Marcelyn was also known for her love of words– in both crossword puzzles and daily writing. This added to her sharp mind and incredible memory, which stayed with her until the end. For the past 17 years, Marcelyn was a resident of Raybrook Manor, where she faithfully served at the community store.

Marcelyn was also deeply passionate about the lives of her family and showed each person unwavering and unconditional love. Above all else, Marcelyn loved the Lord and was a faithful and fervent prayer warrior.

Funeral services for Marcelyn will be held at Raybrook Chapel (Holland Home) 2121 Raybrook St. SE on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holland Home Memory Care Unit in memory of her husband, Henry. The family greatly appreciates the excellent care she received at Meijer Heart Center.
