Madeline
Trailer
Jan 19, 1927 — Nov 11, 2024
Madeline Trailer, a beacon of gentle love and enduring friendship, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, in her hometown of Grand Rapids, MI, the same place where her story began on January 19, 1927. Born to Elo and Dena King, Madeline's life was a tapestry woven with devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Madeline was the loving matriarch of a family that saw her as the cornerstone of their lives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward 'Gene' Trailer, her daughter-in-law Nona, her caring parents, and her siblings John (Mary) King and Beatrice (Jim) Zuppa, in-laws Amy and George Langley, Ovella and Nathan Hargett, and Ruth and George Thompson. Her legacy continues through her three sons, Robert, William (married to Chelo), and Edward (married to Judy), her grandson Brad Trailer, and her three great-grandchildren. Madeline's sister, Fran (Paul) Jeltema, along with many nieces and nephews, also survive her and will hold her memory dear.
Madeline's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her church, where she was not only a regular attendee but also an active participant, serving on numerous boards and committees. Her faith was the compass by which she navigated life's challenges and celebrated its joys.
Her interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Madeline was known for her exceptional skills in crocheting and crafting, creating beautiful pieces that she generously shared with loved ones and community members alike. She also had a fondness for playing cards, with Hand and Foot and Uno being among her favorite games.
Madeline Trailer's life was a journey of love, service, and joy. As we bid her farewell, we do so with gratitude for the time we were given with her and for the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her spirit, a gentle and loving presence, will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. Madeline's story does not end with her passing; it continues in the lives of her family and in the countless acts of kindness she inspired. Her memory will be treasured, her influence everlasting, and her absence deeply felt by all who loved her.
