Leendert Antoon de Jong, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 92. Leendert, best known as Leo, was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Leo was a sharp, quick-witted businessman with a great sense of humor and a kind heart. He found joy in traveling, sailing, cooking, and time with family.

Leo is survived by his wife, Mimi Micu; his former wife, Betsy de Jong; his children, Anthonie de Jong (Greta Gryson), M. de Jong (L. de Jong), Alexandra de Jong (John Brown), and Simona McKey (Jesse McKey); his grandchildren, Laurens de Jong (Desislava Dimovska), Nikolaas de Jong (Aline Merinova), D. de Jong (N. de Jong), N. de Jong, S. de Jong, Pippa de Jong, Austin McKey, and Owen McKey; his great-grandchildren, Caramia Sterner, Callie Sterner, and Aurora de Jong.

Leo will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Leo's life will be held on Sunday, February 15, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI.
