Laura Marie Dams, age 43, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after passing away unexpectedly on Monday, March 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harvey and Dorothy Dams, Kenneth and Barbara DeHaan; uncles and aunt, Kenneth DeHaan, Jr., Bryan and Connie DeHaan. Laura will be deeply missed by her parents, David and Sally Dams, brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Erica Dams, much-loved nephew and niece, Calvin and Olivia Dams; many dear aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Pat Ausema, Casey Cwayna; and life-long friends, Kristin Leppen, Lori Huebner and Jamie Rosendall. Laura worked in the retail industry for over 20 years; the last 12 years were spent at Kohl's where she made many friends, and she certainly considered them part of her family. She enjoyed spending time in Florida with her family on vacation and especially loved shelling on Sanibel Island. Laura also loved vacationing with all her family in the Smoky Mountains. Her family was so important to her, and she took so much pride in being an Auntie ("Yaya") to Calvin and Olivia. She also had a passion for jigsaw puzzles, loved watching the Gaithers (like her Grandma Dams), and cheered for all MSU sports. Laura loved people of all ages and her smile always lit up the room. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49546) with a memorial service starting at 3:00 pm with Rev.
