Julia
Lopez
Jan 28, 1940 — Apr 16, 2026
Julia Lopez was the seventh child born to Policarpo Lopez, Sr. and Rafaela Martinez Lopez in Colorado, Texas on January 28, 1940.
She went home to heaven on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, where she is reunited with her parents and siblings: Martha (Jose) Hernandez, Sarah (Andrés) Herrera, Cecilia (Frank Sr.) Rincones, Elias, Ruben, Daniel, Rachel and Samuel Lopez. Julia is survived by her younger brother Policarpo Jr. (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was especially close with her niece, Michelle Lopez Wiersma, and great-niece Jessica Wiersma who were devoted caregivers and advocates, especially during Julia's latter years in a care facility. Julia is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Lopez, former sister-in-law Anita Ortega and a special friend, Yolanda Reyes.
Julia was very fond of sweet treats, cozy blankets, stuffed animals, dolls, trinkets and traditional Mexican foods and fruits. She had a spunky personality and was known for speaking her mind. Julia also enjoyed playing Mexican bingo, Loteria, and added much colorful commentary as she called the cards.
Julia was a woman of faith who sang songs of praise recalling the words to hymns she had known all her life. Growing up and on into her adult life, she was a regular in her parents' congregation and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was known to carry her Bible at the care facility and regularly joined visitors in saying the Lord's prayer.
