Joyce Wierenga of Grand Rapids, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2024 at age 84. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Benton Harbor, MI on September 10, 1939 and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1957. Joyce was formerly employed in bookkeeping at VM, Whirlpool, Clark Equipment (10 years), and EHTC Accountants (13 years). Joyce is survived by her beloved husband Rodney Wierenga of 37 years and loving family: daughter Laura Ragan, brother-in law Wally Lyon, special cousin Kent Kramer (Dale), nieces Jennifer Ahrens (Dave) and Beth Muldoon (Jim), half sister Jean Alspaugh (Denny), step-children Jane Johnson (Mark), Kristi Rickert (David), Sandy Cundiff (Jim), 5 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Herman and Erna (Stephan) Lerke, sister Dolores Lyon, former husband David Ragan, and loving daughter Deborah Ragan. Joyce was very creative and she made everything lovely…growing beautiful flower gardens, crafting artistic greeting cards for family and friends, painting flowers and landscapes in water color and oils, cooking scrumptious gourmet meals, and creating warm and inviting homes. She loved birds and seashells and various shades of blue. With her hubby and companion Rod, through the years they shared golf, tennis, bike riding, boating, travel, and wintering in Florida. Joyce was filled with love and joy, as her name implies, and she was beautiful both inside and out. We will miss her smiles, and forever cherish the loving memories of her and the love she bestowed upon us all. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd (2-4) and (5-7) at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE in Grand Rapids, MI. For a more lasting memorial, donations may be made in Joyce's name to Corewell Health Hospice.
