Jonathan Dirk was born to Joe and Marlene Vugteveen on December 5, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Because his dad was a minister he grew up in several different communities. His elementary education took place in Wheaton Christian Grammar School in Illinois and John Calvin Christian School in Strathroy, Ontario. His high school education was at Delaware County Christian School near Philadelphia. During his adult years he took courses at Calvin College, Calvin Seminary, and Kuyper College. He worked at several different jobs, both secular and spiritual. The years he spent in church ministry brought about his most gratifying and productive work. God used him to bless the lives of many people, especially during his work at Providence Christian Reformed Church in Holland, The River Church in Allegan, and Life Quest Church in Greenville. Jon made friends wherever he went. As a true Michigander, he loved music, a good beer and Euchre and enjoyed sharing those things with his friends. With his sense of humor and love for the Lions, Jon's most recent wish was to live until the Lions won the Super Bowl in February 2024. Unfortunately, God's time for Jon came before that wish was realized. Jon was preceded in death by his father Pastor Joe Vugteveen. Those mourning his passing are his wife, Tansley and her son Ryan and daughter Hannah, Jon's mother, Marlene Vugteveen, his siblings Jane and Bill Bradshaw, Chuck and Linda Vugteveen, Eric and Angelika Vugteveen, daughter Kassandra and son John and their families, his Aunt Joyce Vugteveen, 7 nieces and nephews as well as a number of great friends. Funeral services will be held December 30 and Zaagman Memorial Chapel with a visitation at 11:00AM and a memorial service at 12:00PM.
