Jonathan K
Lindgren
Jun 18, 1998 — Oct 22, 2023
Jonathan Lindgren, age 25, beloved child of God, unexpectedly died and was welcomed into the presence his Savior on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Jonathan was an incredibly fun person. He was engaging, warm, passionate, and had the gift of gab. He made friends with whoever he met and had an ability to draw people out and make them feel comfortable.
However, Jonathan also faced many struggles in his life, both a struggle with addiction and with a new diagnosis of epilepsy. He knew that his life and health were at risk. This caused him to reflect deeply about his life, his choices, and his future. And the Lord used this to draw him back. Jonathan said that he knew that God had never left him in the midst of these struggles. He repeatedly expressed confidence that God saw him, loved him, forgave him, and would be welcoming him into Heaven with Him. We take comfort in God's promise of everlasting life.
The last six months of his life have been very sweet for Jonathan. His relationship with Caitlyn and the birth of his daughter, Naomi, transformed his heart and life. He was always so excited to see Naomi and loved to share photos of Caitlyn and Naomi with family and friends. And he never missed an opportunity to see his daughter.
Jonathan will be greatly missed. His life is a testimony to God's faithfulness and mercy. The family and friends he leaves behind are heartbroken, and yet are not without hope.
He is survived by his partner Caitlyn Root, daughter Naomi, parents Eric and Dora Lindgren, sister Kayla Hartzler, brother-in-law Eric Hartzler, brother Lars Lindgren, grandmother Jessiemae Helmus, grandfather Richard Lindgren, uncles and aunts Michael & Shadow Helmus, Cory & Ann Smith, Adam & Jitka Helmus, Laura Gardner, Mark Lindgren Sr., Amy & Erik Gfesser, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Neal Helmus, grandmother Ardeth Lindgren, and Uncle Tom Gardner.
Visitation will be at Christ Church, 2500 Breton Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 28, with a memorial service also at Christ church at 11:00 am. A private internment ceremony for immediate family will follow.
In lieu of flowers, checks can be made out to Christ Church (2500 Breton Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546) on behalf of Caitlyn and Naomi Root.
