Joanne Ganzevoort was taken up to glory to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Joanne was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 8, 1932, to Cornelius and Lavina VanderWoude. She then went on to marry the love of her life, Roger Ganzevoort in 1955. Joanne's heart was for her family and her love of her Lord. She took joy in being a homemaker where she poured her heart into her family. Her love of children led her to a long-spanning career as a paraprofessional for Grand Rapids Schools. Her faith and love of her Savior were expressed in years faithful membership at Seventh Reformed Church, devoting time to Bible study and the Mercy Workers ministry. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, and her grandson, Aaron Moeller. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ken and Cheryl Ganzevoort, Ellen and Robert Moeller, Thomas and Carol Ganzevoort, and Brian (fiancé Cindy) Ganzevoort, her brother Hugh VanderWoude, her grandchildren, Rev. James and Clare Ganzevoort, Lynda and Jason Ambrose, Jennifer Moeller, Christina and Beau York, Jessica and Anthony Baar, Luke and Jordyn Ganzevoort, Jacob Ganzevoort (fiancé Leah), Lauren Ganzevoort, Ella Ganzevoort, and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Seventh Reformed Church with Rev. James Ganzevoort and Rev. Paul van Engelenhoven officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM. Private interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Seventh Reformed Church Heartside Ministry in Joanne's honor.
