Janice Mae
Delange
Jun 16, 1938 — Sep 10, 2026
We are saying goodbye to our dear, ferocious, loving, kind, and intelligent mama, grandma (Nana), and friend, Dr. Janice DeLange. She died peacefully in the arms of her loving daughter on Thursday, September 10th. She is joining her loving husband, Edward, on the other side. She firmly believed that those who leave us live on within and around us, so we will be seeing her in all kinds of ways.
She shared once that she had more people up in heaven to meet than she did here. So we hope she gets to see her sister, Mary; brother, Eugene; and mom and dad, Hattie and John, respectively.
Janice was not only a fiercely independent woman, she was a deeply spiritual soul who accomplished so much in her life. She touched the lives and minds of many through her work as a psychotherapist. She was at the cutting edge of alternative therapies at the time and was trained in EMDR and the Emotional Freedom Technique.
We are extremely proud to call her Doctor Janice DeLange, as she earned her doctorate from the University of Wisconsin and her master's from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She went on to live in many places, most notably Seattle, Washington, and Hawaii.
A Grand Rapids native, she attended Oakdale Christian and Calvin College for her undergraduate degree.
She will be deeply missed by her 3 children Sergio Pieksma- DeLange, Nicole "Coco" Perkins (Dan) and Karolina "Karlita" Reimink (Troy). As well as her two granddaughters, Annabel and Winnie. We know her strong will and determined spirit will continue to march on up above forever and a day.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 3:00pm followed by a memorial service at 4pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, 49546. Please join the family afterwards for food and community.
