Jana Rene Daniels, a beloved mother, daughter, devoted teacher, and a passionate friend, passed away on July 3, 2023, at the age of 41.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 22, 1981, to Russell and Dee Lewis, her parents. Jana's life was tragically cut short due to a fireworks accident in Holland, Michigan. She had recently been hired for a teaching position and moved into a new apartment in Holland.

Jana is cherished by her son Tyler (9), parents Russ and Dee, older sister Karrie (Lewis) Heminger and twin brother Jeff Lewis.

Growing up in Grand Rapids, Jana was known for her bright smile, infectious laughter and her independent but caring nature. Carried in life by these traits, she has touched the lives of everyone she has met. She will be eternally remembered for her love for the beach, often taking her son on weekend trips to enjoy the water, sand and sun. Jana also was always ready for a good time with family and friends. She loved hanging out, whether a night out on the town, or an entertaining evening at a friend's or family member's home. Her friendly nature, quick laughter and sense of humor and loving heart made her the welcome at every gathering.

Jana spent years as a non-traditional student, working on her teaching degree, a testament to her commitment to an education career, and love of little children. Jana was not just a teacher in the classroom, but also in every aspect of her life. She took every opportunity to teach, coach. guide, and inspire those around her.

Despite the challenges she faced, Jana was a proud mother to her son, Tyler. Her love for him was evident in everything she did. Her world revolved around Tyler. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving and nurturing environment for him. Jana encouraged his love for music, math and spelling and could often be seen singing with him, challenging him with math problems or big spelling words.

Jana is survived by her son Tyler, her mother Dee Lewis of Grand Rapids, her father Russ Lewis of Wyoming, sister Karrie (Al) Heminger (Cade, Shelby, Cruz and CJ) of Kalamazoo, brother Jeff (Lauren) Lewis of Cadiz, Spain, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
