Rev. Jacob Heerema passed away at the age of 87 on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marian; his parents, Elmer and Rena Heerema; and his brother, George Evan Heerema. Jake is survived by his son, Rohn (Dawn) Heerema; his daughter, Lynne Heerema; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clarence (Jean) Heerema, Elmer (Denna) Heerema, George (Mary) Heerema, Henny (Randy) Krug, and Evan (Dori) Heerema; and his sister-in-law, Madelon Gelder.

Jake deeply loved and cherished his family; he was a wonderful husband and father and was a significant influence in their lives. He also blessed countless people throughout his years as a camp counselor, teacher, chaplain and pastor. He truly was a "Pastor" to all he came in contact with. He served God throughout his entire life, ministering to people of all ages. His passion was being Jesus to all he met. He will be sorely missed but we rejoice that he not only knew who he was but most importantly, whose he was! He is now living with all the saints in life eternal with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Jake's family on Monday, October 21, from 5-7 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, at 11:00 am at Calvin Christian Reformed Church (700 Ethel Ave, SE), with an opportunity to greet the family one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship room after the memorial service.
