Gregg
Klooster
Jan 21, 1949 — Sep 10, 2025
Gregg Melvin Klooster, age 76, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on January 21, 1949 in Zeeland, MI, Gregg will be remembered for his steadfast belief in Jesus Christ and all He has done for our lives. For over twenty years, he annually read through the entire Bible, and joined the Gideons to give out countless Bibles to spread the good news. He never failed to travel without many copies of the New Testament in his suitcase to leave with hotel staff and new friends he met on vacation. His gift for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ has touched lives around the world.
Gregg also dedicated his life to teaching, and inspiring others. For 37 years, he taught at Ottawa Hills High School, where he became a beloved mentor to generations of students. His passion for education didn't stop there—he also taught higher education classes at Grand Rapids Community College, to put his four children through Grand Rapids Christian Schools. His teaching left an enduring mark on his community, and his former students. They often spoke of the life lessons he imparted both inside and outside the classroom.
Gregg is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy Klooster, and their children, Sam (Jennith) Klooster, Sarah (Jimmy) David, Libby (Todd) Wiers, and David (Jenni) Klooster, along with 11 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Zaagman Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 19 from 5-7 PM. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 20 at 11 AM at Fifth Reformed Church, along with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grand Rapids Christian Schools or the Gideons International, continuing his lifelong mission of supporting his love for Jesus Christ.
