Gladys Ruth
Van Noord
Jan 3, 1924 — Nov 9, 2025
Gladys Van Noord, age 101, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on November 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Mulder; loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Andrew Van Noord; sisters Joyce Steigenga, and Joyce's first husband, Willard Groen; Gail Persenaire and husband Fred Persenaire; brother Robert Mulder; and in-laws, Clarence and Bessie Van Noord; Gelmer and Marian Van Noord; and Laura and Pete Nyenhuis.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Van Noord; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Mulder; and brother-in-law, Herb Steigenga; along with many nieces and nephews.
Gladys, who was a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, grew up during The Depression and lived through World War II, which greatly marked her and her family. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1941. She worked at Kresge's Dime Store for one year, and then Winters & Crampton as a secretary, from 1942-1952. She married her High School sweetheart, Andrew Van Noord in 1944. In 1952, she quit her job to be a stay-at-home mother when she gave birth to her only child, Nancy Van Noord. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, going out to eat, reading and wintering in Florida. She was spirited and was quick witted until the end. She was a member of Cascade Fellowship Christian Reformed Church for over 60 years.
A special thanks to the Beacon Hill Skilled Nursing Staff who enjoyed her spunk and feistiness and did an outstanding job of caring for her.
