Prins
Jul 8, 1920 — Aug 5, 2025
Geraldine Nella Vanderwerp Prins, age 105, of Grand Rapids, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Prins; her brothers Gordon, George, and Russ Vanderwerp; her sister, Helen, Daining; her sisters-in-law Carolyn, Linnie, Kay and Norma Vanderwerp and her brother-in-law Edward Yonker Jr. Jeri is survived by her daughters, Joan (Edward) Stuursma and Rose Prins; her sister Marjorie Yonker and brother Stuart Vanderwerp.
Jeri was born in Grand Rapids but moved to Holland in 1946 where she and John set up residence. They were owner of Prins IGA and later Dutch Maid Laundry. Both were active members at Maple Ave. CRC for all their married life. In later years, Jeri was employed at Baker Book House where she loved getting to know many of the pastors frequenting the store. She went on to Richmond Photography Studio where her gift to bring smiles was an asset. In her retirement years, Jerry took up oil painting, voice lessons, and volunteered at Holland Hospital and various nursing facilities where she brought joy to so many whether by her listening ear or kind and caring nature. Jeri looked for the best in others and didn't hesitate to compliment - whether she knew you or not. "If you think something nice about someone, tell them". A wonderful encourager, Jeri drew people to her. She loved her family; she loved her Lord so when at the age of 92, she was able to move back to her hometown of Grand Rapids, her joy overflowed. Jeri lived a life of praise and gratitude.
She was blessed and was a blessing.
