Frederick Lee Lummen, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and children the morning of February 14, 2022. He fought a short, courageous battle with cancer that took him from his family much too quickly. Fred was born to Adrian and Gertrude Lummen on August 1, 1946 and lived in Grand Rapids his entire life. He has been a charter member at Plymouth Heights CRC since 1951 and served as a cadet leader, deacon, and elder. He raised his children to be faithful followers of Christ, just as he was. He attended Grand Rapids Christian High School and Calvin College before working as a computer programmer for Old Kent Bank and Fifth Third Bank. After his retirement, he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, reading, attending his grandchildren's events, watching sports, and visiting Florida. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara (Geers), his three children, Jennifer and Todd Gray, Andrea and Curt DeYoung, Brandon and Lisa Lummen, and eight grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia, and Natalie Gray, Cole and Brayden DeYoung, and Nathan, Ava, and Zachary Lummen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Marilyn VanHouten, brother-in-law Gary Snyder, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Karen Snyder, and his sister-in-law Frances Timmermans (Furman). Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Plymouth Heights CRC, 1800 Plymouth Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, with Reverend Sarah Albers officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Christian Schools or South Christian High School.
