Obituary

Fred Ellsworth Guild Jr., age 97 of Ada, MI, went to his eternal home on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is remembered as someone who was a natural caregiver to everyone he knew and a friend to many. Fred was a charter member and elder of Brookside Christian Reformed Church and was a large part of the large evangelism push in the 80's. His faith was a main pillar in his life. Fred was a strong patriotic World War Two American citizen and was in the 101st Airborne Active Army Military branch. As he loved to honor his country, he also loved to honor his family; from being a caregiver to his parents till the end, his sister in laws and mother-in-law, his four daughters, and then to his wife Frances in her later years, he had the largest heart and naturally wanted to care for everyone and didn't expect any praise for doing so. With his love for his late wife, daughters, and grandchildren, he was a constant reminder to all of them to remember their family tree. His family will remember him on days like Memorial Day when he would visit every grave of his late family, young and old, and drive across the state to honor them and pay his respects; he was a man of quality. He will be greatly missed for his gentle nature by his children, Gayle Guild, Rene (Tim) Wolterink-Guild, Kimberly (Ron) Geelhoed, and Suzanne (Barton) Grimm; eight grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Carla Guild. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Frances Guild, parents Fred Sr. and Susan (Siple) Guild and his son Fred Guild III. We rejoice that he is now reunited with his wife in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 12PM at Brookside Christian Reformed Church (3600 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids) with a funeral service at 1PM. A graveside service will take place at 2:30PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens after the funeral with military honors.
