Frances Niewenhuis, age 93, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale. She is survived by her children Judy (Mark) Cisler, Diane (Steve) Mayberry, Leone (Chris) Swanberg, Larry (Beverly) Niewenhuis, Jean (Bill) Kosten; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters Claralene Geerdes, Wilvina (Vernon) Lubben; brother Willus (Chris) Vander Woude; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances had a passion for music and education. She joined the Calvin College Choir, where she met Dale, the love of her life. She taught elementary school until Dale was drafted into the Army. She devoted herself to her family and her church, Cascade Fellowship CRC. She also pursued her artistic and entrepreneurial interests, painting, selling Avon and encyclopedias, and starting adult foster care homes. She supported Dale in his Patio Shop business and volunteered for the Red Cross and World Renew. She was a hard-working and caring woman who touched many lives. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE. with Rev. James Karsten officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12 to 1 pm. Memorial contributions in Frances's memory may be made to Cascade Fellowship CRC/ Short Term Missions.
