Obituary

Evelyn L. Bremmer was received into glory on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She is now free from the cruel and debilitating effects of Alzheimer's disease. Evelyn was born, the ninth of twelve children, to Joseph and Agnes Rykse on July 5, 1928. Ev married her true love, Gerald Bremmer, on September 8, 1949, and they were blessed to have sixty-one years together. Jerry preceded her in death on March 8, 2011. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, crafts, golf, gardening, and having lunch with her "sister" friends Dottie, and Mary. She especially loved being out on the boat with Jerry and her family. Lunch would be packed, and the day spent cruising around on Spring Lake, through the channel and out to the "big" lake. Those were the golden days of summer for Ev. She is remembered as a devoted wife and mother, a dear grandma and special GiGi to her great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, ten of her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Rian and Laurie Bremmer, and son, Keith Bremmer. Grandchildren, Patrick and Jodee Bremmer, Justin and Alexis Bremmer, Nathan Bremmer and Rachel Bremmer. Great-Grandchildren, Evelyn, James, Colin and Saoirse Bremmer, Simon and Abbie Bremmer. Brother and sister-in-law, Russ and Lois Rykse, along with many nieces and nephews. Ev's faith was especially important to her, and she enjoyed her church family at Seymour Christian Reformed Church. The family wishes to thank Deb and the staff at Sunrise Senior Living for the love and care that they gave Evelyn for the past three and a half years, along with Hospice of Michigan. They were all a true blessing. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Grand Rapids Christian Schools or to the Seymour Christian Reformed Church Christian Education Fund. A service will be held at Zaagman Memorial Chapel located at 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 on Friday, April 15th with visitation starting at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am. A graveside internment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.
