Eunice M.
Lanting
Mar 21, 1936 — May 28, 2025
Eunice Marie Lanting (maiden name DeJong) went to be with her Lord on May 28, 2025. She was born on March 21, 1936 in Hudsonville, Michigan to Rev. John and Marguerite DeJong. She had three siblings: Don (Arlene), Dave (Faye) and Marian (Simon) DeVries.
Shortly after graduating from high school in Hull, Iowa, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she met and married Bernie Klaver. They had four children: Sandy Donnen; Ellen (Randy) LeClaire; Ron (Hali) Klaver; and Randy (Ligia) Klaver. Dad and Mom were long- time members of Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church, where Mom was in the choir.
Eunie was an incredibly talented singer and piano player. She performed in numerous churches in the Grand Rapids area for many years.
In fact, it was a few years following her divorce that she met the love of her life, Harry Lanting (deceased) while singing at his church. Mom and Harry greatly enjoyed time on Mackinaw Island and in Florida, their regular card games with family and friends, and just spending time together. It was obvious to anyone who knew them that they adored each other.
Eunie is survived by: her brother Dave (Faye); sisters-in-law Linda (John - deceased) and Arlene (Don-deceased); her four grandchildren: Chelsea (Zack) Remtema; Connor (Anna) LeClaire; and, Randall Klaver and Brielle Klaver.
Mom dearly loved her family and extended family, including her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and Harry's family. Eunie liked shopping, taking walks, Rummy Cube and card games, desserts (especially chocolate) and her condo.
She was a beautiful, gentle, kind soul and will be greatly missed.
