Eleanor Joan Slabbekoorn , age 84, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Jay Slabbekoorn; her siblings and in-laws, Jim and Lois Rottschafer, Ruth and Jack Peterson, Dean Kemink.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Mark (Lesley) Slabbekoorn (of Chippewa Falls, WI); her daughter, Cheryl Dise; six grandchildren; five great‑grandchildren; and her sisters, Donna (Jerry) Roelofs and Arlene Kemink.

Eleanor lived a life marked by generosity, humor, and deep devotion to the people she loved. She had personality-plus—a warm, spirited presence who could make anyone smile, often with a quick wit and a twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed a good glass of wine, cherished time with her family, and especially adored her grandchildren.

Those who knew her will remember her as someone who cared deeply and served wholeheartedly. As her family lovingly says, "Eleanor fed the world"—a reflection of a life centered on nurturing others in every way she could.

Per Eleanor's wishes, cremation has taken place. Her final resting place will be in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico, a place of beauty and peace.
