Dorothy DeHaan Vanderzee passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the age of 98. She was born on April 15, 1924, to John and Dena (Beukema) DeHaan, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is survived by her six children: Carol (Philip) DeJonge, Mary (Eldon) Pals, Paul (Betty) Vanderzee, Sue Vanderzee Martin, Mark (Julie) Vanderzee, and Tom (Paula) Vanderzee. Dorothy is also survived by 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Nelson Vanderzee, her parents, sister Marguerite Mulder, and brothers Dr. Clarence DeHaan and Dr. Robert DeHaan.

Dorothy and Nelson served numerous CRC churches in Michigan, Massachusetts, California, and New Mexico. She proudly stood by Nelson's side as a dedicated Pastor's wife. Dorothy enjoyed extending her gracious hospitality to family and friends. She was incredibly musically inclined, a talented seamstress, and an avid reader. Often her children have risen and called her blessed. She was very loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Friday, October 14, at 11 AM at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dorothy's memory to Neland Avenue CRC.
