Obituary

Donald Peter Swagman, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 21, 2026, at the age of 91.

Donald was born on September 11, 1934, and by God's grace was born again on December 13, 1974, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. From that day forward, his desire was to please his Lord in every part of his life, and his faith remained the foundation of his life.

Donald was a gifted engineer, entrepreneur, craftsman, and inventor whose talents and abilities touched countless lives. He possessed a remarkable ability to design, build, repair, and create anything he set his mind to, always pursuing excellence and craftsmanship in every endeavor. His strong work ethic, ingenuity, and attention to detail earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

He served as Chief Engineer at Harlo Products in Grandville, Michigan, and later founded and served as President of Material Movement Corporation in Coopersville, Michigan. He also owned and operated The Master's Craftsman in Spring Lake, Michigan, along with other business ventures throughout his career. Whether in engineering, manufacturing, woodworking, or design, Donald approached every task with creativity, precision, and a commitment to excellence.

Donald and his beloved wife, Rosalyn Joy, shared 71 years of marriage and a lifetime of devotion to one another. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their motorhomes, visiting 49 states. They also had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land and travel to several countries overseas, creating cherished memories together.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Rosalyn Joy Swagman; his parents, Peter and Henrietta Swagman; his sisters, Esther Dams and Irene Potter; and his great-granddaughter, Natalie Paull.

He is survived by his four daughters: Cheryl and David Dreyer; Barbara and Kim Rose; Gloria Erickson; and Donna and Thomas Paull.

He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cheryl's family includes Dale and Jennifer Bowman and their children, Providence and Calvin Bowman; and Justin and Sarah Behm and their children, Luke, Nathan, and Peter Behm.

Barbara's family includes Brian and Diana Rose and their children, Drea, Corbin, and Bohdan Rose; and Mason and Megan Rose and their children, Brady, Ellie, Emma, Ava, and Tanner Rose.

Gloria's family includes Leonard and Julia Arambam; Mark Erickson; and Steven Erickson and his fiancée, Gloria Fieneman.

Donna's family includes Thomas II and Stephanie Paull and their children, Noelle, Thomas III, Naomi, and Neilia; Benjamin and Courtney Paull and their children, Hayden, Scarlett, Benjamin Kyle II, Remi, and Olivia Paull; and Lewis and Denise Spikes and their children, Jaxson and Jasmine Spikes.

Donald leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, hard work, and craftsmanship. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, talented builder, and faithful servant of God. His life demonstrated the value of diligence, excellence, and unwavering trust in the Lord.

There will be no visitation. A private burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Though he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, they rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior, reunited with his beloved Rosalyn and free from the struggles of this life. He has entered into the joy of his Lord and the eternal home prepared for him.
