Obituary

David Albert Ridout, Age 83, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, January 9th, 2026 while surrounded by his family he loved so deeply. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nettie Ridout, and siblings Walter and Albert. David will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathy (Aletta); his children, Laura (Steve) Meek, Eric (Julie) Ridout, Julia (Scott) Lindeboom; and his treasured grandchildren, Olivia, Danielle, Noah, Anna, and Rikki, each of whom held a very special place in his heart.

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, David was proud of his roots and remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1960, earned his degree in Pharmacy from Ferris State University in 1966, and later completed his Master's in Management at Aquinas College in 1982. As a young man, David was a Boy Scout and achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, a reflection of values he carried with him for the rest of his life.

"Pharmacy Dave" started his career at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital, went on to become the Director of Pharmacy at Ferguson Hospital and eventually the Vice President of Professional Services. He retired from his role as Manager of St. Mary's Family Pharmacy in 2007.

David believed strongly in giving back. He served for more than 50 years on various Plainfield Township committees, the Ferris State University Alumni Board, and numerous pharmaceutical organizations.

David found joy in meaningful moments and hobbies. He enjoyed time at his cottage on Nichols Lake fishing, feeding his woodland friends, and watching the beautiful sunsets with his wife. He also loved going on cruises, golfing, hunting with his son, reading, and woodworking. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time spent together.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to relatives and friends for their love and support, and to the compassionate staff at Trinity Health, St. Mary's Campus, for the exceptional care provided to David.
