David Andrew Klassen, 74, of Kentwood, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Breton Home Extended Care. Born November 27, 1951, in Fremont, Michigan, David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dr. Sandra Ellen Klassen (Meppelink), who passed on December 12, 2022. David is survived by his son, Brian Klassen (Em Jacoby), and grandchildren Hendrik, Estella, and Lorena, all of Chicago, Illinois; his sisters, Jan Frens (John) and Mary Muller (James), both of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and his brother, Roger Klassen (Marianne), of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

A lifelong learner, David earned his bachelor's degree in microbiology from Calvin University, a master's degree in microbiology from Michigan State University, and an MBA from the University of New Mexico. He spent his entire career as a Certified Public Accountant at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Though he was a Michigander born and raised, David fell in love with the Southwest, cherishing its weather and mountains, Native American art, green chile, and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. In retirement, he and Sandra were regular volunteers at Roadrunner Food Bank in Albuquerque before returning to Michigan. David was an avid reader, a goofy grandpa, and he enjoyed a good buffet.

Memorial contributions may be made to Roadrunner Food Bank in Albuquerque, New Mexico, or to Brookside Christian Reformed Church, his home congregation. A memorial service is being planned, with details to be announced at a later date.
