Carol Lois
Ditmar
Jul 14, 1938 — Nov 27, 2023
Carol Ditmar went to her eternal home and we are comforted with these words from mom, "If you get a call that I am gone, I want you to be just as happy for me as you know I will be seeing dad again." We know that she has been welcomed by her heavenly Father, her loving husband Henry of 47 years, grandsons Henry Ditmar V and Johnny Schreiber, late parents DeWard and Elise Humphrey, brothers Rick and Junior and many other loved ones. If you knew Carol you knew what a giving, loving and thoughtful woman she was. Always finding the perfect gift and card for any occasion even if there was no occasion. She was well loved by everyone. Her sense of humor kept us all in stitches, especially after her stroke 12 years ago. We never knew what mom was going to say next! Carol was a well-known figure at Steelcase, Macy's Fine Jewelry and a volunteer at Metro Health Hospital. In Ohio she was an active member at Christ the King church and multiple neighborhood groups. Carol leaves behind her children Zachary (Linda) Ditmar, James (Penny) Houtman, Henry (Kristi) Ditmar, Pamela (Sean) Berner, Jennifer (Matthew) Martinueau, 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren; her sister Patricia Rabourn, brother Gary (Pat) Humphrey, and her in-laws, Mary Bartholomew and Arthur Ditmar along with many nieces and nephews. Please join Carol's family for visitation at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE) on Sunday, December 3, from 3-5 pm. A funeral service will be held at Zaagman Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 4, at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Zach Ditmar officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandville High School Orchestra Henry Ditmar Scholarship.
