Betty Lou Van Dyke (Vanden Toorn), age 82, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded with love by her family and is now resting with Jesus her Lord.

Betty Lou was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 19, 1942, to her parents, Dirk and Corrine Vanden Toorn.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Van Dyke, Jr.; and by her brother, Thomas Vanden Toorn; and two great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her children, Cindy Lee Boswell, Rebecca Sue Van Dyke, Cari Lynne (Chad) Hoskin, Lynnette Yvonne Nanninga; 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Nieuwenhuis, Ruth Wilkerson; brother, Dirk (Lori) Vanden Toorn; along with other in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Betty was a devoted wife and homemaker who also had a successful career at Merrill Lynch, from which she eventually retired.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 11:00 am at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE) with Dr. Gerald M. Bilkes officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 10, from 4-7 pm, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday (10 -11 am). Memorial contributions may be given to Corewell Health Hospice or Trinitarian Bible Society.
